It is possible to manufacture a helical gear motor without an IEC flange. The IEC flange is mainly used because the coupled electric motor is standard. In the event of a fault, the motor can be replaced quickly. For gear units with a directly mounted motor, the length of the IEC connecting flange between the motor and the gear unit is not required.
